With the publication of the new Protestant Hymnal, there was a need to make supporting materials for the new hymns available digitally. With the website mitsingen.de, we have created a platform that brings together sheet music, arrangements, and background information, making the hymns in the hymnal accessible, shareable, and usable for both volunteers and full-time church music professionals.

A uniquely developed color and design language, illustrations, striking typography, and visual rhythm give the platform a look that surprises and inspires, clearly setting it apart from the traditional image of church communication.

The focus is on practical application: teaching ideas with filter options, downloadable picture cards, sing-along videos, song information pages with audio samples, and materials for instrumental accompaniment make mitsingen.de a valuable tool for everyday church music.

In addition, the new hymnal is presented in a playful way: a memory game with various difficulty levels and an emoji quiz with a score encourage users to participate. The highlight is an interactive map of songwriters—songs and artists can be searched for via Google Maps using filters for gender, date of birth, time period, occupation, and place of birth and death. Profiles and info pins trace life stories, highlight significant events and connections with other artists, and link directly to their songs.

This turns a hymnal into a digital journey of discovery—well-researched, playful, and visually appealing.
