Survey on Church Membership
A Matter of Faith
Every ten years, the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) conducts a representative public opinion survey on topics related to religion, faith, and the church.
This church membership survey, known as the “KMU,” is a flagship product of the EKD. Through this broad empirical study, the Protestant churches in Germany gain important insights to strategically advance their organization, including relevant areas of action. We supported the EKD in presenting the latest KMU findings across various areas. The task was to present the numbers, data, and facts in a concise, accessible, and emotionally engaging way. Given the expected target audience—which is not particularly tech-savvy—the challenge was significant: to enable users to engage intuitively and responsively with the questions and results. And all of this had to be done within the framework of the EKD’s specified web development toolkit. In the end, we designed the illustrations and visual representations of the statistics for both digital and print media, provided the text for the website, and designed the cover for the print edition of the KMU Study VI.
