Taprogge
Interactive CGI Design Manual

From the Engine Room to the Screen: * *—A Design Manual for the Digital Visual World

Complex machines and systems impress with their precision, and their visual presentation must meet this standard as well. For our client Taprogge, we have therefore developed an interactiveCGI design manual that, for the first time, establishes binding quality standards for the brand’s 3D and CGI imagery.

Traditional CD/CI manuals govern logos, color schemes, typography, and visual language, but when it comes to three-dimensional visualizations of complex technical systems, many companies lack a standardized framework. Different service providers, varying rendering tools, and individual design preferences quickly lead to inconsistent results—a risk for brands whose products themselves stand for technical excellence.

This is exactly where the new design manual comes in. It defines clear standards for lighting and shadowing, materials and surfaces, camera angles and perspective, background design, and final post-production. Instead of rigid guidelines in a PDF document, an interactive, browser-based tool was created: Using concrete examples, before-and-after comparisons, and practical explanations, both internal teams and external CGI partners can easily understand at any time how a Taprogge system should be properly staged, regardless of who creates the rendering.

The result is more than just a set of guidelines: it is a dynamic tool that evolves alongside Taprogge’s product portfolio and requirements. New types of systems, new application scenarios, and new communication channels can be seamlessly integrated into existing standards without compromising the brand’s visual quality and recognizability.

With this project, we are consistently extending the classic CD/CI concept into the world of digital visual design. For Taprogge, this means a consistent, high-quality, and brand-compliant presentation of complex machines and systems across all touchpoints, all service providers, and all future projects.
